Ironwomen = Amazing Women

[This was a blog post I wrote in the winter of 2010 - an update on these Ironwomen will be a future post!]

In this journey I have been taking to become prepared for my very first Half Ironman Triathlon, I have had the extraordinary privilege of meeting and training with women who are doing FULL Ironman competitions. One of those women is Carey Keever. She absolutely amazes me. She has what it is going to take to get her to the finish line at Lake Placid with a smile on her face.

Carey trains hard, stays dedicated and has a never-give-up attitude. And not only that – she stays positive and encourages others each day in her training. That’s amazing.

This weekend I will kick off my triathlon season. I have some real nerves kicking over this race – Beaverdam International. Carey did a great job of summing those nerves up in her blog entry: http://careykeever.blogspot.com/2011/04/official-start-of-2011-race-season.html#comment-form .

I wish her and all of the women who are striving towards Ironman goals the very best of luck! While I find the time to whine about my upcoming Half, you guys are out there, giving it your all each day in your training. You all instill in me inspiration, lift me up when I feel uncertain, encourage me to keep reaching for loftier goals; it is an honor to train with you all.
